The Bread Baking Challenge

The Bread Baking Challenge: Me and a Bunch of Flour! I hope my neighbors and friends are ready for some bread!

I’m kicking off the holiday season with a bread baking challenge that runs from this Thursday, November 14th, until mid-December—about four weeks in total.

The twist? I’ll be traveling during this time and plan to bake wherever I am. The most exciting part is that I won’t know what type of bread I’ll be making until the recipes arrive in my inbox each Thursday.

I only joined this challenge last night, so I have a few days to prepare—mostly making sure I’ve got enough flour. I already have most of the tools I need, except for a grain mill or a stand mixer. That’s fine by me, though; I love getting my hands dirty and kneading the dough by hand.

I expect the recipes will include sandwich loaves, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls—practical, daily essentials—but I’m not entirely sure what’s to come.

Although I’ve been baking bread for over a decade, I sometimes fall into routines and make the same things or feel burned out. I thought this challenge would be a fun way to mix things up and bring a little excitement back into my bread-making.
